About BandingJob

BandingJob is an independent salary benchmark for Malaysia. It answers one question: what does this job pay?, with the median and the 25th-75th percentile band from live job listings, by profession, industry and state.

The figures are the advertised market rate. When an employer states a salary on a job listing, that is what we count. We read them from JobStreet Malaysia’s public search API and aggregate the whole set into bands. This is the opposite of a self-reported salary site: we do not ask people to remember what they earned, and we do not publish reviews. See the full methodology.

An advertised range is not the same as take-home pay. Malaysian listings often pad their ranges, and a quoted figure may be basic pay or basic plus allowances, the listing rarely says which. So read these as benchmarks, not promises. We show the sample size and the date the data was read on every page, so you can weigh the number yourself.

We do not run job boards, we take no employer placement fees, and no employer can buy a higher figure. A profession appears only once at least 20 live listings support it, below that, a percentile band is noise, not a benchmark.
